RE: Just cancelled my ISP, I'm running free baby!

I tossed my ISP a year and a half ago, and I've been online ever since. The parks I stay at provide the service (not really free, as I pay for the site). When I needed better signal, I moved, sometimes closer , sometimes to another park.

RE: Dishnet Questions

There are some differences between the older receivers and the new, concerning the way they 'talk' to the dish. Not always compatible. Probably the problem.

RE: finding laptop w/XP?

Dell still sells a Vostros with XP pro, but it's an additional $150. I got one for my daughter before the June 30 deadline, wish I'd bought 2.

RE: Mice...We've Tried Almost Everything

Just keep a ferret in the trailer. Good exercise for the ferret.

RE: Waiting at the Rainbow Bridge

Houdini, aged 5 years and 9 months, went to join his cousins on the other side of the bridge. I know that Bambi, Fletcher, Thumper and Zachary are waiting there. Snickles is being a very brave little ferret and is keeping us humans cared for.

RE: Slide Locks

My Flagstaff came with locks, so I use them. My Sierra doesn't have locks, so I don't use them. The locks may or may not help, but it does give some piece of mind.

RE: FIXING HOLE IN FRESH WATER TANK

Put a patch of Eternabond tape on it. The bandaid will will stop the leak. I used the same trick on a cracked gray tank, and fixed a leaky fitting on a fresh water tank. It's best to apply to a dry surface, but I've applied to wet and it worked. Remember that the patch needs to be 2 inches bigger than the hole, on all sides. fairly cheap repair, but will be there forever.

RE: Suggestions for leveling a satellite tripod?

I use the 'old' style dish 500, the one with the switch. Anytime I have problems, it's me, not the equipment. Dish pole must be plumb, any out of plumb will create problems, even to no service. I use a bubble level on a wineguard tripod. I've made levelers out of 3 pieces of heavy duty all thread with washers and nuts to adjust the 'level' (it also provides about a foot of lift for the dish). I used to use bunge cords to hold it all down, but have switched to chains with turnbuckles (held position all winter, all the storms). Plumb is everything.

RE: Getting rid of mice - how NOT to do it

22 caliber snake loads work well. patching the walls are easier than when using the 12 gauge auto but a really good shot would probably want to use a 22 slug, much more sporting, and the mice can't move into the empty cartidge.

RE: 5th Wheel Ultra Light Quality Ratings?

I agree with the "find a good dealer" and add that they better have a super maintenance department. Go out and look at the trailers, maybe actually walk on the roof, try to wander around the service department, ask many questions. Then go ahead and get the one you want. I hear that even the really nice trailers have some problems now and then. My idea of quality may be different than someone else's, and yours may be different yet. Learn about a PDI, and learn from your mistakes, the rest of us are.

RE: Concertone-Any Love?

I had to plug and unplug all the wiring to get it to work. Once I did that, it has worked as well as it could, being a bottom of the line sound system. The LCD has worked OK, for a poor quality screen. The tuner is nothing to brag about, and being analog only wasn't good in the first place. The LCD was replaced last week with a 26" Visio LCD 720p with digital tuner. I don't miss the Concertone LCD. Still works, but I don't miss it. We've been fulltiming in this unit for over a year.

RE: Computer tracking question

I have Firefox set to accept all cookies, then delete all when I close Firefox. I don't mind logging into this or any other site I visit ('specially financial sites). After being on a financial site I usually restart Firefox just to clear all the crumbs.

RE: Suburban Furnace-no light in cold weater

Sounds like a bad load of LP, if there is moisture in the LP, then it freezes when the temp gets down there.

Same position as my scare lights. Probably that.

RE: Privacy will be a thing of the past........

AMW1721, I put my phone number into Google, and it didn't find me. Has the phone in the wrong town, close like 15 miles away, but no address. And wrong carrier. Might be why I use a pay-as-you-go cell phone. GPS could locate me, if I carried it.

RE: Propane consumption.

It has to be a leak or improperly filled tanks. Just went all winter (KCMO) and never used more than 9 lb a day(temps to -2F). Have single pane windows and kept a comfortable 72 at ALL times. Winter avg was 6 lb/day (10/07 to 4/08).
